LEVITTOWN, Pa. (WTXF) - Police are investigating after an elderly man was killed in a hit-and-run outside a Bucks County ice cream shop. The man killed has been identified as 70-year-old Emanuel Weintraub.
The incident took place right by JoJo's Ice Cream and Water Ice around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday on the 8800 block of New Falls Road in Levittown.
Witnesses say the man was coming from a dog adoption fundraiser held at the ice cream shop when he was struck.
Police say darkness, rain and obstructed view may have prevented the striking vehicle from seeing Weintraub walking with his cane in the crosswalk as it passed another car on its right, but here's possible no excuse for not stopping.
The striking vehicle is described as dark blue or black 4-door sedan with a missing right front passenger hubcap and windshield/front end damage.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Stephanie Metterle at 215-949-9100 x440. Anyone who makes contact with the vehicle is asked to call police dispatch at 215-945-3100.
