PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia police dogs are going to be wearing some important new duds.
The Philadelphia Police Foundation is donating canine body armor to the entire Philadelphia Police Department K-9 Unit.
All 23 patrol and scent-trained dogs will be outfitted in state-of-the-art bulletproof and puncture-proof body armor to protect them from serious injury while performing their duties.
The body armor was made possible by a $22,000 contribution from Joanne Berwind.
