Veteran Cobb County Officer Steve Gaynor said there is a totally new climate on the street compared to when he began thirty years ago.

Morgan, his daughter, just 17 years old, said it was when she was in the sixth grade that it "clicked in" what her dad did for a living. That Gaynor goes out into danger every day.

The teenager said national headlines over the past year have been difficult and she fears a new climate of targeting law enforcement officers makes her father even more vulnerable when he is in uniform.

While those execution-style slayings are occurring elsewhere, Morgan said, "It hurts, it really hurts."
