A family moved to Northeast Philadelphia and found a letter filled with hate in their mailbox.

FOX 29's Sabina Kuriakose has the story.

It's already Christmas in Connie Mella's home on the 4800 block of Knorr Street. She moved there with her family in the city's Tacony section in September--fixing up the dilapidated structure and filling it with cheer. Sadly, on Thursday Connie found a threatening and hate-filled letter in her mailbox. Her son translated it for her.

In the letter, the writer calls the family sub-human and writes that if the Mella's don't watch their step "We intend to firebomb your house" whether the family is inside or not. The letter also threatens that "If you call law enforcement into this and show them this letter we will get to you quicker."

Connie says she was horrified by the threats but has been heartened by an outpouring of support from other neighbors.
