FBI shoots, kills suspect connected to Philadelphia kidnapping in New Jersey
An investigation into a report of an abduction in Philadelphia turned deadly Wednesday morning when the FBI says agents descended on an apartment complex in Bergen County, New Jersey. One suspect was shot and killed and the victim was recovered safely.
LEONIA, N.J. - Federal agents in New Jersey shot and killed a kidnapping suspect Wednesday morning during an investigation in Bergen County.
It all started Monday when a 17-year-old boy from Philadelphia was kidnapped. A source tells FOX 29 his dad called Philadelphia police when his son never showed up to work at a Northeast Philadelphia restaurant.
He then found the teen's car a few blocks away in an Acme parking lot along Roosevelt Boulevard. FOX 29's Chris O'Connell is told that's when his dad then started getting demands for ransom.
The investigation led the FBI to the apartment complex. The victim was recovered safely, taken to the hospital for evaluation, and released Wednesday.
No agents were hurt during the confrontation.
The incident remains under investigation. The FBI said the investigation involved agents from both the Newark, New Jersey, and Philadelphia field offices.
