PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Authorities say a local wiseguy is in trouble with the law again, this time for allegedly making and collecting extortionate loans and conspiracy.
An indictment unsealed Thursday accuses 56-year-old Philip "Phil" Narducci of being a member of La Cosa Nostra and making loans involving large amounts of money to a borrower.
When that borrower failed to make weekly interest payments, Narducci is accused of using violent threats and assault to force repayment, or instructing an associate, 44-year-old James "Jimmy" Gallo, to allegedly make those threats and collect.
The FBI, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General are investigating this case.
Several of the charges carry maximum penalties of 20 years in prison and $250,000 fines, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania stated in a news release Thursday.
FOX 29 has learned that Narducci - who was part of the Nicky Scarfo mob in the '80s - was arrested Thursday morning at his home in South Jersey. Search warrants were executed there and in South Philly.
