Neighbors react to three-alarm fire that killed twins, injured firefighters in Trenton
FOX 29's Shaynah Ferreira is in Trenton where a three-alarm fire killed twins and injured several firefighters.
TRENTON, N.J. - Residents in Trenton are shocked after a three-alarm fire tore through a home on Saturday, killing twins and injuring several firefighters.
Authorities say the fire broke out around 7 p.m. on the 800 block of Carteret Avenue.
Four firefighters were injured, but have since been listed in stable condition, according to fire officials.
According to the Trenton Fire Department, the home sustained massive damage.
The identities of the twins have not been released and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Neighbors spoke to FOX 29's Marcus Espinoza and say it is one of the worst things they've seen.
"As I approached, smoke was coming from the windows, but at that point, the windows blew out," one neighbor said. "And she was yelling ‘My twins are inside. My twins are inside.’"
The fire became so intense that fire officials had to switch to a purely defensive approach.

Twin boys killed in three-alarm fire in Trenton
A three-alarm fire in Trenton claimed the life of twin boys and injured several firefighters over the weekend. FOX 29's Marcus Espinoza has the story.
The landlords for the property were on scene to assess the damage on Sunday.
They say all the smoke detectors on the property were functioning and alerted authorities of the fire.
"It's heartbreaking," another neighbor said. "When you watch something like that you feel so helpless because you can't do anything."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
