Former Sixer Jayson Williams opened up about his past when stopping by FOX 29's The Q Tuesday afternoon.

After a successful career in the NBA both on the Sixers and the New Jersey Nets, Williams began a new career as an announcer. Before his second career took off, it was brought to a halting stop in 2002 when he accidentally shot and killed his limo driver.

Williams told FOX 29's Quincy Harris there is not an hour that goes by that he does not think of the driver's family and the people he let down because of the accident.

In 2010 Williams pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and eventually served 27 months in jail. Throughout his life, Williams has struggled with alcohol abuse but says he is now doing everything he can to change his life and the lives of others.

Williams told Harris he is able to cope with a program called 'Rebound,' where he helps himself and others stay active and drug free. There, he can focus on staying sober and work on his other issues.

"I think the best mechanism is that… I'm helping other people with their problems," said Williams.

Williams said that he believes helping people overcome their obstacles is his purpose in life and spends almost all of his day doing so at Rebound.
