Fred Neulander, former rabbi convicted of hiring hitmen to kill wife, dies in prison
TRENTON, N.J. - A former Camden County rabbi, convicted of hiring hitmen to kill his wife, has died in prison.
New Jersey prison officials say Fred Neulander died Wednesday at the age of 82, after suffering a medical emergency.
Neulander was sentenced to life in prison in 2003 for arranging to have his wife, Carol, murdered back in 1994.
One hitman said Neulander paid him $30,000 and promised him a job with Israel’s spy agency in exchange for the murder.
He was being held in New Jersey State Prison in Trenton.
