Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting where a girl suffered a single gunshot wound to her right shoulder.
LOGAN - An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized Thursday after police say she was shot inside a home in Philadelphia’s Logan neighborhood while a family friend has been charged for her role in the unintentional shooting of the girl, as well as the juvenile shooter.
Philadelphia police say the incident occurred around 1:18 p.m. inside a home on the 4500 block of North 13th Street.
The girl suffered a single gunshot wound to her right shoulder. Responding officers rushed her to Albert Einstein Medical Center where she was placed in stable condition.
Officials say 40-year-old family friend Tiara Williams has been charged with endangering welfare of children in the accidental shooting.
Police say Williams left the loaded firearm unsecured in her home. The unsecured firearm led to another youth in the home to accidentally shooting the 11-year-old.
Williams is also ordered by officials to give up all firearms.
Additionally, the 15-year-old who fired the shot has been charged as a juvenile with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Two other children were in the home at the time of the shooting, while no adults were in the house.
The investigation is ongoing.
