Good Samaritan tried to help driver on highway, hit by car
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WTXF/AP) - New Jersey State Police say a good Samaritan who stopped to help another driver on I-295 in Mercer County was struck and injured by a passing vehicle.
The man was driving southbound at about 11:30pm Saturday when he saw another driver who'd struck a deer.
The man pulled over near the Sloan Avenue exit to help the other driver. He was standing near the line separating the shoulder from the right lane when he was struck by a third car. The driver of that vehicle had swerved to avoid the car that had hit the deer.
The injured man suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital.
One lane of the highway had to be shut down for a few hours.
