Guinness World Records names Holocaust survivor world's oldest man

The world's oldest living man is a survivor of the Holocaust.

112-year-old Israel Kristal was recognized by Guinness World Records with the title at his home in the city of Haifa, Israel.

Born in Poland in 1903, Kristal lived through both World Wars and survived the Auschwitz concentration camp in the 1940s.

His first wife and two children were killed in the Holocaust. When he was rescued by Allied forces in May 1945, he weighed only 81 pounds.

He moved to Israel in 1950 with his second wife and son and "continued to grow both his family and his successful confectionery business until his retirement." He now has a large, loving family.
