Hillary Clinton wins Democratic presidential primary in New Jersey

NEW YORK (AP) -- Hillary Clinton claims victory in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, eight years after conceding defeat in her first White House bid and one day after reaching the number of delegates needed to defeat rival Bernie Sanders.

The former first lady, New York senator and secretary of state will be the first woman to lead a major U.S. political party. She tells supporters, "thanks to you we've reached a milestone."
