CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The death of a local veterinarian is now being investigated as a homicide, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
Dr. Michael Anthony, the owner of Haddon Vet, was found dead outside a home on Sharrowvalle Road in Cherry Hill Tuesday morning.
Neighbors said they heard a scream before several police crews converged on the typically quiet neighborhood.
"It's shocking because it’s a great neighborhood. Never had anything like this happen before," said Chris Shelton.

On Wednesday, officials confirmed they are currently investigating his death as a homicide, but did not provide further details.
FOX 29's Jennifer Lee stopped by the 45-year-old veterinarian's clinic as the staff grieve the loss of their boss.
Carol Grossman lives next door to the Haddon Vet clinic in Haddon Heights and would wave hello to Anthony in the mornings. She said her son also takes his two dogs to receive care at the clinic.
"As my son said, he was shocked this morning when I called him, he said he was just the best. He was just a great doctor," said Grossman. "He was just a terrific veterinarian, well-loved by his patients, obviously, because he was always busy."
The Haddon Vet website shows a picture of Anthony who is described as a life-long lover of animals, an avid runner and a dad to two very active sons.
