Iced water main break to close Columbus Blvd. again at 9
SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - You only have until the end of rush hour to use a busy stretch of Columbus Boulevard.
Southbound traffic between Fitzwater and Christian streets is going to close again at 9am Wednesday.
That's because of the water main break we showed you Tuesday morning.
First, water gushed from the manhole cover. Then, the water iced over and police had to shut the road down.
The water main was repaired overnight Wednesday -- and some water service has been restored to an impacted apartment building -- but the icy situation continues.
Until 9am, only the left lane will be open. At 9am, the water department will close it.
FOX 29's Bob Kelly suggests using Front and 2nd streets, which are just across I-95, instead.
And the I-95 exit ramp to southbound Columbus will also close at 9.
Bob suggests exiting I-95 further south, at Packer and Oregon avenues.
