'Mailbox fishing' may leave your personal information at risk
CHESTER COUNTY, P.a. (WTXF) - Chester County police released an alert to residents saying their personal information may be at risk after reports of scammers finding a way to steal from mailboxes.
Reports of 'mailbox fishing' have caused great concern within Chester County.
Police say scammers dropping sticky fly paper into mailboxes to fish out envelops in the hopes of finding cash, gift cards, checks and credit card numbers.
There have already been several reports of the 'fishing' in Chester County.
The United States Postal Service has released a statement saying, "We are working very closely with state and local law enforcement and have made a number of recent arrests."
Police urge the community to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
