Man armed with knife killed in officer-involved shooting at Upper Merion home
UPPER MERION, Pa. - What began as a domestic crisis in Upper Merion ended with a man being shot dead by officers early Thursday morning.
Police say a woman called just before 1 a.m. to report a man armed with a knife at the same home the Montgomery County Mobile Crisis Unit responded to less than two hours earlier.
"The Mobile Crisis employees had left the residence in order to obtain additional resources," the Upper Merion Township Police Department said.
Officers arrived to find a man holding a knife, and tried to deescalate the situation.

Police say the man refused to comply with demands, and began advancing towards the officers, who attempted to use a Taser device with no success.
"The male subject, still holding the knife, advanced on the officers again. At this point, two officers fired their handguns, striking the male," police said.
Officers attempted to perform lifesaving measures, but the man died at the scene.
Both officers are on administrative leave pending an investigation.
