WINTER PARK, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The suspect behind a Winter Park shooting near Rollins College has been apprehended.
The Winter Park Police Department says that there was a shooting on Monday in the 900 block of Orange Avenue. Fox 35 reporter Valerie Boey was on scene and says that police told her that a man shot another man in the business district off of Orange Avenue. The shooting victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Winter Park Police Department was looking for Jerad Christopher Vasquez, but he has since been apprehended.
Fox 35 reporter Valerie Boey was on scene when Vasquez was apprehended. She says that gunfire was exchanged between police and the suspect prior to his arrest. They then caught him hiding in a trailer. He was not injured.
Rollins College earlier in the day issued a shelter in place notification, even though the shooting did not occur on the campus of Rollins College. The lockdown lasted hours.
