Man arrested, issued citation for throwing beer bottle at Ryan Howard
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A man has been arrested and issued a citation after police say he threw an aluminum beer bottle at Phillies' player Ryan Howard last week.
The incident occurred on June 4 at 6:32 p.m. inside Citizen's Bank Park.
Police say the man, identified as 21-year-old Sidney Smith from Wilmington, threw an aluminum beer bottle onto the playing field as Howard was walking to the dug-out at the conclusion of the ball game.
Howard was not struck, and no injuries were sustained as a result of the incident.
The man left the game on his own, without being stopped or ejected by Phillies security.
On June 5 at 12:45 p.m., the Director of Security for the Phillies reported the incident to police.
Friday, Smith turned himself in at South Detective Division, and was issued a Summary Citation for Disorderly Conduct and released.
