Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide in Norristown Drowning

Norristown (WTXF) Robert Bruce Hoffman, 21, has been charged with vehicular homicide for his part in the October, 2015 drowning deaths of 29-year-old Clinton Berger, and 25-year-old Lauren Magargal.

The incident occurred on October 4, 2015 in Norristown. The accident was a single vehicle crash. The car was parked in a path between a tow road and the Schuylkill River. According to prosecutors, as they were getting ready to leave, Hoffman backed the car up causing it to fall over an embankment and plunge into four feet of water. The victims, unable to remove themselves from the car, drowned.

The suspect, prosecutors said, was supposedly under the influence of marijuana, alcohol, and Clonazepam at the time. Additionally, the suspect is said to not have had a valid driver's license when the crash occurred.

Hoffman has been arrested and bail was set at $10,000. Additionally, he is not drive or consume any drugs or alcohol. A preliminary hearing has been set for February 4.
