Man facing federal charges after alleged school shooting plot was foiled by N.J. mom

A Kentucky man facing state charges in connection with school shooting threats is also being charged with federal offenses.

News outlets report an indictment filed Thursday outlines seven new charges against 21-year-old Dylan Jarrell, including the use of social media to send threatening and racist messages.

Kentucky State Police say a New Jersey woman reported harassing Facebook messages in October, which led authorities to Jarrell. Police have said their investigation of Jarrell uncovered evidence pertaining to "threats of bodily harm against multiple persons at a school." Police say Jarrell was heavily armed and had a detailed plan of attack when arrested.

Jarrell has pleaded not guilty in state court to terroristic threatening and harassing communications charges.

His attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment on the federal charges.
