CAHOKIA, Ill. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - An Illinois officer is being praised on social media for his act of kindness toward a man without a driver's license who was driving to a job interview.
On Wednesday, Officer Roger Gemoules pulled over 22-year-old Ka'Shawn Baldwin for having expired plates. Baldwin also didn't have a valid driver's license.
Baldwin told the officer that he had borrowed the car so that he could get to a job interview.
Officer Gemoules couldn't let Baldwin drive away, but he also didn't want the young man to miss his interview...so he drove him himself!
The best part is that Baldwin nailed the interview.
"He wouldn't let me drive away cause my L's suspended so the police gave me a ride to my interview 💪🏾‼️ & I got it ‼️WONT HE DO IT 🙌🏾" read a post on the Cahokia community Facebook page.
Francella Jackson, who works for the mayor of Cahokia, shared pictures of Baldwin and Officer Cahokia meeting up again the next day.
"On behalf of Mayor Curtis McCall Jr., I would like to thank Officer Gemoules for showing compassion and being a great example of how community-oriented policing actually works."
