Man holds up grocery store cashier, gets away with money

A man in an Acme supermarket placed several items in a shopping cart like any other shopper but police say when he got to the cash register, he pulled out a handgun and demanded money.

Police released surveillance video from the store on Crittenden Street in Chestnut Hill, late last Friday night, May 27.

The cashier gave him money and he was last seen heading toward Mermaid Lane.

There were no injuries reported.

The robber is described as about 20 years old, 5'11" tall, with a slim build, light brown complexion and goatee. He was wearing a black Chicago White Sox hat, a navy blue thermal-style shirt, and dark-colored "Dickie" pants, and holding a silver revolver.

If you recognize him or know where he is, you're asked to call 215-686-TIPS (8477), text a tip to PPDTIP (773847), or click here to submit a tip anonymously. Police say all tips will be confidential.
