NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - State police in New Jersey say a man outside of a vehicle on Interstate 78 in Newark was struck by two cars and killed.
Trooper Charles Marchan said 29-year-old Dominick Denegri of Boonton was outside the vehicle on the westbound shoulder near exit 55 when he was hit at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Marchan said "the cars fled right after the accident" and the drivers are being sought.
He said there were people in the parked vehicle, but it wasn't immediately clear whether the vehicle belonged to Denegri or why they were parked.
