FRANKFORD (WTXF) - Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Frankford.
The incident occurred on the 5800 block of Saul Street at 4:35 a.m.
According to police, a 32-year-old male victim was shot on Saul Street and drove to a Sunoco at 5800 Roosevelt Boulevard after sustaining the injury.
They say he was sitting in his vehicle when he was shot, then reversed and side-swiped two parked unattended vehicles.
He then kept going and arrived at the Sunoco.
Witnesses in a nearby vehicle saw the accident and followed him, believing that he was leaving the scene of an accident.
They confronted him, but did not realize he had been shot in the torso because of a large amount of money in the center console of the victim's vehicle.
The victim was taken to Einstein. He was shot in the stomach and is now in stable condition.
Bullet casing were found at the scene.
