WTXF - Neil Gandler had no fixed address and lived mostly in cars. But he was no typical homeless man.
Gandler, a software engineer, tech entrepreneur and blogger based in Palo Alto, Calif., spent more than ten years living in rental cars, both as an an attempt to live a modest life and to make a statement Bay Area real estate prices. He did this in various cities and usually showered in fitness clubs.
Sadly, it was this habit that led to his death last month.
According to the Las Vegas Review Journal account, the 42-year-old Gandler was shot and killed in an attempted robbery while sleeping in his car in Las Vegas. Gandler was in Las Vegas to attend the annual International Consumer Electronics Show.
Gandler's assailants, a couple, were arrested a few days later and charged with first-degree murder.
A transcript of Gandler's memorial service has been posted online. A memorial fund has been set up on GoFundMe as well.
