LOGAN - A man is dead after police say he was shot in the head while driving Thursday afternoon in Philadelphia.
Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 5000 block of Ogontz Avenue just after 11 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
Police found a 37-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, according to preliminary information. The man had been driving and was shot near the intersection of Belfield and Ogontz. The car then crashed into a restaurant with such force, a man living above said the building shook.
The James Logan School is just feet away from the scene.
Neighbor, Jamal Rivers stated, "This is a terrible intersection here, with car deaths, but usually shootings. The value of human life needs to be raised up. I grew up in the fifties and the value of life was high then and now it seems like the human life, the value isn't up there."
Officers rushed the unnamed victim to Albert Einstein Medical Center where police say he died shortly after his arrival.
No arrests were reported immediately following the deadly shooting.
