The Mini Cheetah can run up to 2.5 meters per second, has independent rotation and it capable of pronking, or leaping. It can even land after a fall and has balance orientation control.

At only 20 pounds, it can walk either right side up or upside down. This is robot is also acrobatic, able to do backflips.

MIT is building 10 more mini cheetahs, which they plan to loan out to other labs for research.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the robot's top speed. This version has been updated.
