(INSIDE EDITION) Tapes of the frantic 911 call made by the mother of a 3-year-old boy who fell into a gorilla pit at the Cincinnati Zoo have been released by police.
"My son fell in the zoo exhibit at the gorilla, at the Cincinnati Zoo, my son fell in with gorilla, there is a male gorilla standing over him," the panicked mom, Michelle Gregg, tells a dispatcher in the call. "Be calm, be calm," she yells to her child.
"He's dragging my son, I can't watch this," the woman says. At another point, she says "I can't watch this. I cannot."
In tapes obtained by The Associated Press Wednesday, other witnesses can be heard calling 911, some of them distraught, after Saturday's incident.
"He's taking the baby into the cave. Oh, my God. He's just kind of holding him right now. He's dragging him from one end to the other. Oh, my God," one caller said.
Another can be heard trying to quiet the gathering crowd and high-pitched screaming that erupted as the gorilla dragged the boy through a moat.
"I can't get them to be quiet," the female caller said.
Nine minutes elapsed from the first emergency call to when zookeepers shot dead the 17-year-old male primate, starting an avalanche of controversy.
"There's a baby in the zoo that fell in the gorilla moat," says another caller. Hurry! Hurry! The gorillas are out. Oh, my God. OK, can I get off the phone?"
