(FOX) - Facebook turns 15-years-old Monday, February 4, 2019.
The world's most popular social media platform was launched 15 years ago from a college dorm room.
Mark Zuckerberg was a sophomore at Harvard when he launched "The Facebook," a site connecting students at their college. In just over a year, he dropped out and had obtained 14 million dollars in funding.
Even with ongoing controversy over user privacy, Facebook continues to grow, with over 7,000 people making an account every 15 minutes.
The site devoted to "connecting people" is now worth about $65.6 billion.
