Mount Laurel police say they are searching for a hit-and-run driver they say fled in Tesla model X.

"I saw headlights coming from behind me. I turned around and saw there was a car coming," said a 24-year-old Mount Holly man describing the moment a car hit him and kept going.

"Next thing I knew there was a tremendous force behind me and I was going down." He doesn't want to be identified but he showed FOX 29 his injuries.

"I had a few stitches in my head and road rash on my arm," he said. It happened a week ago just after 8 p.m. on Saturday night September 1st. The victim says he'd just left work and was riding his bike on the 700 block of Centerton Road near the Laurel Creek Country Club when the driver hit him. He says he was riding on the correct side of the road going with the flow of traffic.

"I had a front light, a back light and my back light has reflective stuff on it. I was wearing white reflective gym shorts. I was as visible as you could be at that time of day," he said. Mount Laurel Police posted on its Facebook page that based on evidence found at the scene the striking vehicle is a 2016-2018 Tesla model X and that it should have passenger side front end damage. They have not determined the color.

The victim hopes the person is caught and has a message for the driver.

"For them to be more aware of what's going on the road," he said.

If you have any information that can police locate the car or identify the driver call police at 856-234-1414 and speak with Detective Harty Ext. 1524 or Sergeant Werner Ext. 1565.
