NC man accused of child rape arrested at US-Mexico border

A 20-year-old man wanted on charges of child rape in Iredell County was recently taken into custody at the United States border, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

Jesse Jacinto, 20, of Harmony, NC is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, deputies said.

The victim was interviewed at the Dove House Children's Advocacy Center where she told authorities that she'd been sexually assaulted by Jacinto.

Deputies said Jacinto left Iredell County and was believed to be traveling to Mexico. He was detained by United States Homeland Security Customs and Border Security on Jan. 24, 2018 while attempting to cross back into the United States from Mexico.

Jacinto was extradited back to Iredell County on Monday, Feb. 18. He was charged with statutory rape of a child.He was being held on a $250,000 secured bond.
