NE Extension closed SB between Quakertown, Lansdale
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (WTXF) - Authorities say to avoid the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Northeast Extension southbound because a tractor-trailer hauling roofing materials flipped at mile marker 35, and traffic is backlogged five miles back to mile marker 40.
They report I-476 will be closed southbound between Quakertown (Exit 44) and Lansdale (Exit 31).
If you exit at Quakertown, the suggested detour is State Route 663 north, to U.S. Route 309 south, to U.S. Route 202 south, to State Route 63 west. Then, reenter the PA Turnpike at Lansdale.
Drivers heading south from the Lehigh Valley should exit at the Lehigh Valley Interchange (Exit 56) to avoid the traffic backlog approaching Quakertown.
In the meantime, maintenance and emergency crews are at the scene.
No life-threatening injuries have been reported.
