DELAWARE - 2024 is coming to an end, and the New Year is almost here with some new laws for Delaware.
Last year, America's "First State" introduced a minimum wage increase and employer tax relief. Here are some laws that will go into effect in 2025:
Abortion insurance
Abortions, along with related health care, will be covered by insurance starting January 1, 2025, for Medicaid and January 1, 2026, for most private and state-regulated insurance plans.
The bill will require "all health benefit plans delivered or issued for Medicaid to cover services related to the termination of pregnancy. Coverage provided under this section is not subject to any deductible, coinsurance, copayment, or any other cost-sharing requirement and must cover the full scope of services permissible under the law."
Paid leave
Certain employees can receive up to 80 percent of their wages to cover care for a new child or family member with serious health conditions, a serious personal health condition or injury, or assisting while loved ones are overseas for military deployment.
"Delaware Paid Leave offers paid leave to employees who have been employed for at least one year and at least 1,250 hours with a single employer."
