New Jersey police officer killed in one-car crash

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a New Jersey police officer was killed when his police cruiser hit a parked vehicle.

The Passaic County prosecutor's office says the on-duty Paterson officer taken to Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center after the crash shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday.

The prosecutor's office said the officer died of his injuries. No one else was hurt.

New Jersey state police and the prosecutor's office are investigating. Officials said it's unclear whether the officer died as a result of the accident or from a medical emergency.
