HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTXF) - State senators are joining volunteer groups to call on Pennsylvania state lawmakers to pass legislation to better protect victims of domestic abuse.
Senate Bill 501 would bar gun possession by domestic abusers and ensure they turn in their guns promptly and securely to law enforcement officials.
Currently, convicted domestic abusers have to turn in their fire arms to a third party, which could be a relative or friend.
Senator Thomas Killion, who represents Chester and Delaware counties, is the bill's prime sponsor.
