GERMANTOWN (WTXF) - New procedures are being put in place at a Germantown elementary school after two young brothers were able to walk several blocks home all alone.
Tevin Whitehead says his 3- and 4-year-olds, Tabron and Tevin, Jr., walked home from Wister Elementary on Monday afternoon.
They somehow wound up in a group of children about to head to the nearby boys and girls club's afterschool program.
But staffers from that program claim they noticed the two before they left school property and brought them back inside Wister Elementary to make sure they were safe.
The school says its employees were there and never saw the boys being brought back.
The district is still investigating and plans to review surveillance video to determine what went wrong and make sure it never happens again.
The Boys and Girls Club told FOX 29 on the telephone that they were just trying to help the boys when they were standing outside. They issued a revised statement saying the brothers are not part of their program and are glad they are safe.
