KINGSESSING (WTXF) - Police fatally shot a dog on Saturday while responding to what they describe as a vicious dog attack in Kingsessing.
Around 3 p.m., officers responded to the 5300 block of Hadfield Street, where a dog was allegedly attacking a 9-year-old girl.
While responding to the incident, the dog allegedly bit an officer in the thigh. A second officer then fired two shots, killing the dog.
The officer was transported to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. He is expected to be treated and released.
The young girl suffered puncture wounds to both arms and legs and was transported to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Her condition is unknown at this time.
