Philadelphia police say a man is in custody after a 96-year-old woman was found dead, due to blunt force trauma, in a Roxborough residence.
ROXBOROUGH - A 96-year-old woman is dead and a man police say is her son has been arrested and charged.
Officials said police were called to the 4200 block of Houghton Street Sunday afternoon, just after 1 p.m., for a disturbance.
A 96-year-old woman, identified as Bertha Johnston, was found dead in a living room inside a residence when they arrived. According to authorities, the woman sustained blunt force trauma to her head and body and died at the scene.

A 96-year-old woman was found beaten to death in a home on Houghton Street in Roxborough.
Police said the weapon was found at the location and her son, 59-year-old Gary Johnston, was arrested. He was charged with murder and possessing instruments of a crime.
