One man dead in New Castle electric scooter collision
NEW CASTLE, De. - A man died Sunday night after his electric scooter smashed into a vehicle in New Castle, Delaware.
He was riding south on New Castle Avenue near Memorial Drive just before 9 p.m. when police say a 50-year-old Wilmington woman turned left onto Memorial Drive from a northbound lane.
Authorities report she could not see the scooter while turning due to its insufficient lighting, causing the front of the scooter to ram into the right side of her Honda Accord at the intersection.
Both people involved were transported to a nearby hospital, where the scooter operator was pronounced dead.
State police are investigating and urge anyone with information to contact them.
