WEST OAK LANE (WTXF) - Philadelphia police are pleading with the public for information after a 18-year-old track star bound for Penn State was killed after he was shot in the head in his driveway Monday night. Kristian Marche was a 2-star athlete at Imhotep Charter School in West Oak Lane. He was also number 11 on the football team.
He was a force to be reckoned with. Marche was also a brilliant sprinter who decided to run track and field at Penn State on a full ride.
Sadly, his life was cut short on Monday night just after 9:30 p.m. Police say the teen was in the rear of his home on the 1800 block of East Pastorius Street in his driveway when he was shot in the head. He was rushed to Einstein Hospital where he died less than 24 hours later.
Schoolmate Sami Wylie is still trying to process the news.
"It's like heartbreaking to see a young teenager our age drying like these days. It's heartbreaking."
"We have no idea what the motive is. At this point, we have not ID'd a suspect," Philadelphia Police Homicide Lt. Norman Davenport said.
What police do know is that this was not random. Investigators say Marche was targeted.
"We believe that someone knows who was in that driveway with Kristian and we are asking those who know to be courageous and do the right thing and contact homicide," Lt. Davenport said.
