Pennsylvania man who registered to vote in Florida sentenced
PHILADELPHIA - A Pennsylvania man who authorities say registered to vote in two different counties and in Florida was sentenced on Thursday.
Phillip C. Pulley, 62, was given three years of probation and ordered to serve 100 hours of community service. He also must pay fines totaling nearly $10k.
Pulley, a Huntington Valley resident, was charged with falsely registering to vote, double voting, and election fraud. He pleaded guilty in September.
Investigators found that in 2018 Pulley registered to vote in both Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and in Broward County, Florida.
Two years later, officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office said Pulley registered to vote in Philadelphia by using a false home address and social security number.
In the 2022 U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania, officials say Pulley voted in both Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
As part of Pulley's court-ordered community service, he must dedicate 50 hours to "an entity that works toward the promotion of free and fair elections."
"Free and fair elections are critical to the health of our democracy, and people who seek to corrupt the process can dangerously erode the public’s trust," U.S Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero.
