Aiden and his sister Chloe are loving their day off from school but mom isn't.

"Snow isn't that bad but the temperature is too low," said their mother Hojeong Lee. She says the kids weren't happy about the weather at first.

"They were so disappointed because it was their first day of school of this year and school was canceled so they were so sad. Now they're happy again," she said.

A block over on South Street things were pretty quiet minus a few people who wanted to get out after being in all day. Very few businesses were open. Snow accumulation wasn't too bad around the city but enough for some shoveling and concern about a freeze overnight had some out salting.

The slush made it difficult for some drivers to get around. Public transportation was probably the best way to go today as long as you could stand the whipping wind and the wait.

"It's terrible. I'm out here freezing," said Nykeira Hawkins. She said her bus was 15 minutes behind so far when we caught up with her at JFK.

"I feel like they should be on schedule. We're out here waiting just like they're on the bus warm we're out here waiting cold," said Hawkins.

Zack Gurmu is driving for Uber.

"It was very crazy," he said road conditions have improved though throughout the evening.

"It's been almost like six hours since I got out and when I got out it was not like this. The city people are doing good job like clearing the streets," he said. The snow isn't affecting his money.

"Most people are not driving that's the good thing about it. We have this kind of big car so most people are sending us requests and we're doing fine," he said.
