The DA's Office says the victim was not shot at the location where he was found, and that the shooting is not connected to St. Joseph's University.
City Avenue was shut down for several hours, but has since reopened.
FOX 29's Shaynah Ferreira went to the area of the incident and spoke to folks who say they were shocked to hear the news.
"Just kind of hearing and knowing the general vicinity of where it happened, the Cardinal Ave. location, how close it was to campus. I’m sure it was a scary thing for first year students to hear," said Nicoletta Viscione, St. Joseph’s University senior.
Though students at the university received a text alert of the incident, officials want to reiterate that the shooting is not connected to the school.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Lower Merion Township Police.
