Officer on ATV struck by slingshot motorcycle in Philadelphia

A Philly officer is injured after police say a slingshot vehicle struck the officer who was on an ATV in North Philadelphia Sunday.

Just one day after a Philadelphia police officer was hit by gunfire, another officer is in the hospital after being struck by a slingshot vehicle in Philly's Tioga section Sunday.

According to police, around 7:43 p.m. an officer assigned to the ATV Detail was traveling northbound on Broad Street while riding a dirt bike when he was struck by a Polaris Slingshot that was also traveling northbound on Broad Street.

The accident occurred on Broad & Germantown Avenues.

Sources say the vehicle fled, prompting a pursuit.

The slingshot was then captured at 4600 Weymouth Street.

The driver of the slingshot, along with a passenger, were taken into custody, police sources say.

The officer was taken to Temple University hospital and placed in stable condition. The officer was treated for an ankle injury.
