Philadelphia police officer wounded in ambush shooting receives valor award

Dozens of Philadelphia police officers were honored for bravery, valor and heroism, including one officer who was ambushed and shot in his patrol car.

The Philadelphia Police Department held its commendation ceremony. Among the more than 30 officers who received awards was Officer Jesse Hartnett who was given the Sergeant Robert Wilson III valor award.

Hartnett was shot back in January along the 300-block of South 60th Street in West Philadelphia.

Three other officers received the medal of bravery, one received the medal of heroism, and 26 received the life-saving award.
