Philadelphia teachers union reach tentative agreement
PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers (PFT) has reached a tentative agreement with the School District of Philadelphia.
In a message to PFT members, President Jerry Jordan stated, "It’s a deal I’m proud of and one I’m looking forward to bringing you tomorrow."

Further details regarding the tentative deal were to be provided Wednesday, after members have an opportunity to see the agreement for themselves. A formal vote on the deal will take place in the coming days.
Earlier Tuesday, with negotiations ongoing, the tone did not sound good and an agreement seemed a long way off. A possible strike vote appeared imminent, even up to late Tuesday afternoon.
But, talks continued and the agreement was announced around 9:45 p.m.
PFT agreed to a one-year contract extension last October that included a 2% pay increase for teachers.
FOX 29 reached out to the Philadelphia School District and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney's office for reaction.
