Phillies star Harper hit by 96 mph pitch in ankle, limps off
CLEARWATER, Fla. (FOX 29) - Philadelphia Phillies newest slugger, Bryce Harper, exited Friday's spring training game against the Toronto Blue Jays after he was hit in the right foot by a 96 mph fastball in the 6th inning.
Harper writhed around on the ground in pain for several seconds, but was eventually able to walk off the field unassisted with a pronounced limp.
After the game, Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said Harper suffered a right foot contusion and perliminary x-rays were negative.
Harper finished the day 0-for-2 with a strikeout and a groundout.
Friday was only Harper's fourth spring training game of the season. He is hitless in five at-bats so far this spring.
