Philly considers charging fee to drive through busiest areas of the city

Imagine if you had to pay to drive through Center City or any number of the city's neighborhoods. It's called 'congestion pricing' and it's something that Mayor Jim Kenney is considering.

It's basically a toll that drivers would have to pay when entering and driving through the busiest areas of the city.

New York City has approved congestion pricing and will soon charge a fee to drivers who enter parts of Manhattan. The plan is to reduce traffic and generate money for transit repairs.

Mayor Kenney's office says they are monitoring New York City to see if the 'congestion pricing' can be adapted to fit Philadelphia's unique transportation situation.
