Plano man arrested after killing girlfriend, posting photo of murder online
PLANO, Texas - A man was arrested Sunday after police found him with stab wounds and his girlfriend stabbed to death in a Plano apartment.
Kenneth Alan Amyx, 45, is being held in the Collin County jail for the murder of Jennifer Streit-Spears.
Plano police said they received a call Sunday morning about a disturbance at an apartment in the 2300 block of Kathryn Lane. When they arrived and entered the apartment, they found Amyx with multiple stab wounds and Streit-Spears dead.
Amyx was taken to an area hospital where it was discovered his wounds were self-inflicted. He was treated and then taken to jail.
Amyx allegedly posted a photo of himself covered in blood and a picture of his girlfriend's body on her Facebooks page with the caption, "Please pray for us." Facebook has since removed those images.
After his arrest, police discovered that Amyx was wanted in two other nearby counties for separate sexual offenses involving children.
In Rockwall County, he was wanted for the continuous sex abuse of a child under the age of 14. In Dallas County, he was wanted for indecency with a child. For all three charges his bond total is $600,000.
Police have not yet released a motive for Streit-Spears's murder.
